Millennia ago, when the Elemental Creatures came into being, the shadows gave birth to the terrible fiend whose sole purpose is to hunt the Elemental Creatures, to trap and bind them in darkness and drain them from their power. The hunter was known to the Protectors and the Okotan civilization as Umarak, which means "shadow hunter" in their native toungue. They fear him greatly the pray that the Toa would be strong enough to confront him. Should the hunter ever track down the Elemental Creatures, the very foundation of Okoto will be threatened with darkness and destruction.
However, the existance of Umarak was dismissed by the outside world as a myth, the part of Okotan folklore. This changed when Makuta injected Umarak's spirit onto the notorious war criminal Oswald Norman, who was imprisoned after being defeated by Robotman and the Kruvoniengers, after he accepted the deal to work for Makuta in exchange of his freedom, transforming him into the shadow hunter. After breaking out of prison, Norman, now can transform into Umarak at will, went on the run and goes undercover as Harvey Nelsen, a CEO and founder of the computer retail company "Unarac Computers". The quesion is...could Umarak be stopped by the Toa from having Makuta's plans succeed?
Umarak is armed with a number of different weapons, including a massive Bone Hunting Bow Shooter, as well as a machete, a spare ammuniation cartridge and shoulder pauldrons that can detach to become a Shadow Trap. Poison arrows were his preferred ammuniation. However, he could also use his arrows to summon Shadow Traps and Shadow Spawns. The bow was even capable of firing arrows consisting of any of the six elements. Umarak wears a Hunter Mask, which allows him to control the powers of shadow. These shadow powers included being able to travel through them from anywhere and to weaken and bind the Elemental Creatures. The Hunter Mask also allowed Umarak to unite with the Elemental Creature.
Oswald Norman is played by Lex Moore, who previously portrayed the character in movies "Robotman", "Robotman 2", "Robotman 3" and television shows "Robotman" and "The Kruvoniengers".
