Akio Hayashi is a bratty punk who can be obnoxiously stubborn at times and his hobbies include playing first person shooter games and listening to hardcore techno music. When he was transported to Okoto, Akio becomes Pohatu. The other Toa see him as unyeilding and fearless. Renowned for his unbreakable stamina, Akio is arguably the most toughest out of the Toa. With his firm resolution and stubborness that he has at home, Akio strides forward as a fearless vanguard leading the way of the heroes, even though he doesn't like the dark as much as he doesn't like Skull Scorpios.
As Pohatu, Akio is able to control the element of stone. His signature moves are the Kaboomerang and the Sand Strorm. When Akio was the Master of Stone, he wore a Mask of Stone and later the Golden Mask of Stone, which granted him enhanced elemental powers. When Akio was equipped with Unity Armor by Ekimu, he was given the Unity Mask of Stone, in which itself was replaced with the Golden Mask of Unity, which enables him to unite with Ketar, which he didn't get along with unlike the other Toa.
Akio was originally equipped with with two large Stormerangs, which can change into Jetatangs which can be equipped to his feet, as his primary weapons, and the Dagger as his secondary weapon. Those weapons were later replaced by the Crystal Flail, which has a crystal blade and a boulder bolas.
Akio Hayashi is portrayed by Kouki Hashimoto, a handsome actor who previously portrayed Hikaru Sugimura in "Exo-Force" and Nik Nakahara in "Bionicle VII: Sea of Darkness" and Bionicle VIII: The Final Battle".
